Erica’s Story

For as long as she can remember, Erica has felt different from others around her. Lost library books, late bills, unfinished home projects, clutter throughout the house – this is just a snapshot of the difficulty caused by long-term disorganization in Erica’s world.

A mom with an infant plus four young children whom she homeschools, it seems as though her entire day involves crises and yelling at the kids. She feels as though she’s not making any headway in her life or in her small business. She has many books about getting organized and has attended organizing seminars, but nothing seems to work. She experiences low self esteem and high stress on a daily basis.

About a year and a half ago, Erica contacted Duchess of Order. With Stephanie’s help, she sorted multiple bags of paperwork that had been accumulating in the laundry room. During the sorting process she found things that she really needed, things she didn’t, and even found some money. The laundry room was cleared and painted, as was the sitting room.

She now has a functional office – a space to process bills, create task lists, and do her filing. Her homeschool materials are in one place, and each child has their own workspace also. She has a system for kids’ chores so everyone is helping out.

Erica is now able to organize in a way that feels natural to her, and she has supports in place to stay organized going forward. This busy mom successfully navigated a real estate sale and had access to all the paperwork she needed right at her fingertips.

Life in the household is not perfect, but he stress level is diminished. As long as she follows her daily routine, life flows a lot more easily and effortlessly.
